A short entertainment quiz can make you notice a spelling or grammar point you would otherwise skip. To turn that moment into learning, check the answer and use the language in a fresh example.

BuzzFeed quizzes are useful for casual practice, but an entertainment score is not a validated measure of your overall English level. Treat the activity as a starting point for review rather than a certificate of proficiency.
Two quizzes to explore
BuzzFeed’s grammar and spelling quiz by Audrey Engvalson combines language questions in a trivia format. Check the page’s instructions before beginning.
The spelling quiz by Abby Zinman offers another spelling-focused activity. Use unfamiliar forms as a reason to consult a dictionary.
The linked pages were checked in September 2026. The study method below is original guidance; it does not reproduce the quizzes or their answer sets.
Choose an activity for the right reason
A quiz about a film, a personality type, or general knowledge can involve reading English without testing English grammar directly. A wrong answer may reflect unfamiliar cultural knowledge rather than a language problem.
Read the title and question type before interpreting the score. If your goal is spelling practice, choose questions that actually require spelling decisions instead of assuming every English-language quiz measures that skill.
Use a three-step review
First, answer without looking up every option. Mark any question you guessed, even if the final choice turns out to be right.
Next, check the unfamiliar word or structure in a reliable reference. Finally, create a new sentence that uses the same language so that your practice goes beyond recognising the original options.
| What you notice | What to record | A follow-up task |
|---|---|---|
| An unfamiliar spelling | The correct form and its pronunciation | Write a new sentence, then check the spelling again later. |
| Two similar grammatical forms | The context that makes one form appropriate | Compare two original examples. |
| A regional alternative | The variety and situation in which it is used | Check a dictionary’s usage label. |
| A question based on cultural knowledge | The missing background information | Keep it separate from your language-error record. |
An original example of useful review
Consider this practice sentence: “The children _____ playing outside.” The natural answer is are because children is plural.
Do not stop at writing “are” in your notes. Create “The children are waiting for the bus,” then contrast it with “The child is waiting for the bus.” The paired examples connect the verb choice to the subject.
For spelling, compare your first attempt at a word with its dictionary entry. Look at the part that caused the error, then check whether you can write the word correctly in a different sentence without copying it.
Check surprising answers
Some questions simplify usage or depend on a particular variety of English. If an answer seems inconsistent with a sentence you know is natural, compare the complete context and consult a reliable grammar reference.
A confident result message should not make you discard an accepted alternative without checking. The useful habit is explaining the rule and its limits, not treating every quiz key as the final authority on English.
Keep the score in proportion
A spelling quiz samples spelling, and a grammar quiz samples the structures included in its questions. Neither directly observes how you understand spoken instructions, respond in conversation, or organise a longer written argument.
If you need structured exam practice, use the relevant provider’s official sample materials. For example, Cambridge’s B2 First preparation resources are tied to a named qualification and its tasks.
Make a short session worthwhile
Spend a few minutes on one quiz, then select one or two points for careful review. Write your own examples and revisit them later without the original options in front of you.
If the activity is enjoyable but offers little language learning, it can remain entertainment. For your study record, save the specific correction you understood and could use independently rather than relying on the total score alone.
